Ed was the Bid Director* and Financial Adviser to the ACEREZ consortium, who successfully achieved Financial Close in April 2025.
As the first contestable transmission project in NSW, CWO is a pathfinder project, leading the way in the Energy transition. Ed was intimately involved in the development of this project up to and including financial close. It included a range of interface and stakeholder engagements that made it uniquely complex in its development and delivery.
The project delivered an innovative financing solution in one of the largest greenfield capital raisings in Australia requiring engagement on a range of novel elements across a large group of lenders.
The project requires an integration into the broader NSW Transmission Network (Transgrid) and with the incoming renewable energy generators. The project produced a number of firsts, including the first new Transmission Network Service Provider (TNSP) in the Australian National Energy Market (NEM) since 1998 and the development of the first full REZ with a network serving solely variable renewable energy (solar and wind) and battery storage.
*This role was performed for two years at Capella Capital and then continued while at FERN.
